Ghostflation Is Live: Billing, Search, and a Verified App

It's been a big few weeks behind the scenes at Ghostflation. We've been heads-down getting the fundamentals right before pushing hard on growth, and we're happy to say the foundation is now solid. Here's what went live.

Google OAuth Brand Verification — Approved

Anyone who signed up early might have seen the "This app isn't verified" warning when connecting a Google account. That warning is gone.

Google's Third Party Data Safety Team reviewed and approved Ghostflation's OAuth app verification this week. What that means for you: signing in with Google now works exactly as it should — no warnings, no friction, no second-guessing whether the app is legitimate. It is.

We also cleaned up our OAuth configuration while we were at it, removing any development-only redirect URIs from the production app. Small detail, but it matters for security hygiene.

Listed on Google and Bing

Ghostflation is now indexed and appearing in search results on both Google and Bing. Our sitemap is submitted, our structured data (JSON-LD) is in place, and our blog content is getting crawled.

This matters because discovery is everything for an early-stage product. If someone searches "track grocery prices Canada" or "shrinkflation app," we want to be there. We're working our way up — it takes time to build domain authority — but being indexed is the essential first step.

Live Billing

Stripe billing is now fully live. You can subscribe to Pro ($4.99/mo) or Family ($9.99/mo) directly from the pricing page or your account settings, and your account upgrades instantly.

Every new subscription comes with a 7-day free trial — no charge until the trial ends, cancel anytime. We didn't want people to have to think twice about trying it.

The billing flow handles edge cases too: if you signed up during our test period, your account transitions cleanly to the live payment system without any friction on your end.

Receipt Scanning Is Working

This is the core of the product, and it's working well. Scan a grocery receipt, and within seconds you'll see:

• - Every line item extracted and named properly
• - Items listed in the same order they appear on your physical receipt
• - Prices tracked against your history so you can see what's changed

We upgraded the AI model powering the receipt parser to Claude Sonnet — a significant jump in accuracy over what we had before. Abbreviations like "PSTA SCE 500G" get correctly expanded, quantities and unit sizes are properly extracted, and the parsing holds up across receipts from major Canadian chains including Costco, Walmart, Superstore, Sobeys, and No Frills.

Family Plan Household Management

Family plan subscribers can now create a household and invite up to 5 additional members via a shareable invite code — right from the Settings page. Members can accept the invite from their own account, and the household owner can remove members at any time.

This unlocks shared grocery lists, combined spending insights, and family-level inflation tracking across the household.

We're focused on deepening the core experience: better price trend visualization, smarter deal alerts, and expanding our store coverage. The infrastructure is stable, billing is real, and the product works. Now we build on top of it.
